About Lance

Lance Weatherby is a performance-driven senior executive who brings his passion for building customer-focused enterprises and a proven record of achievement to consumer-oriented technology companies. With his unique perspective and principles-based management, he drives business results that deliver exceptional returns to investors while providing meaningful work for employees and adding value to the community at-large. Lance has more than 19 years experience in general management, marketing, business development, acquisitions, and sales in both Fortune 1000 companies and early stage ventures.

Contributing his creative and marketing-oriented thinking, Lance has excelled at conceiving strategies, building high-performance teams, and orchestrating implementations that have enabled companies to exceed their business and growth objectives in the face of rapidly changing conditions. While extremely driven, he actively cultivates an open, fun, balanced, and rewarding culture.

Lance is currently President of The Enfuse Group, a strategic consulting firm focused on growth for emerging technology companies. Lance founded Enfuse to provide such companies with sound strategic direction and practical results-oriented implementations that always reflect a passion for the customer experience.

Previously, Lance was Chief Marketing Officer for CipherTrust, Inc. where he led the development and execution of CipherTrust's marketing initiatives. Under Lance's watch CipherTrust effectively scaled its lead generation to more than double its revenue run rate and garnered significant industry awards and reviews.

Lance came to CipherTrust from EarthLink, the nation's third largest Internet service provider serving 5 million customers and generating annual revenues of $1.4 billion, where he served as Executive Vice President. His management responsibilities at EarthLink were focused on extending the company's Internet services beyond the personal computer, onto mobile wireless devices and home Internet appliances. In this role, with full P&L responsibility, Lance created a business with 195,000 customers on a $45 million run rate in less then two years and earned EarthLink an award from Mobile Computing for its best in class mobile Internet service. During this time Lance oversaw the acquisition of two publicly traded companies, one via a tender offer and one via a 363-bankruptcy proceeding.

Prior to EarthLink, Lance was Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MindSpring, an Atlanta-based national Internet service provider. A marketing talent, Lance led MindSpring's growth from 340,000 to 1.3 million customers, directing all marketing functions including business development, channel sales, customer acquisitions, direct sales, marketing communications, product development, product management, and public relations efforts. Lance was recognized as one of Marketing Computers "1999 Marketers of the Year" as a result of his success. Lance joined MindSpring in 1995 during the company's infancy and held a variety of business development roles, contributing significantly to the company's early growth before taking charge of all marketing. Lance held several sales and marketing positions at Mobil Corporation before joining MindSpring.

During his tenure with EarthLink and MindSpring Lance often represented the companies in print and broadcast media. He has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fast Company, Worth, and on CNBC and CNN, and many other media. Lance also is an accomplished speaker at industry events.

Lance graduated with honors from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing. He went on to the Indiana University Kelley School of Business where he earned his Masters of Business Administration.

Lance is a board member of The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. He also has served as an Entrepreneur in Residence for the Advanced Technology Development Center at Georgia Tech.
